 | THE Responsibility of Man |
The 10th chapter of the
book of Romans, verse 9 says: "That if you confess with your mouth
"Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised him
from the dead, you will be saved. (NIV)
- The above verse says that you must acknowledge
and admit
that Jesus is over all. You must confess Jesus as supreme over your
life and this world. This is more than just stating the words "Jesus is
Lord" but after saying this, you must then allow him to be Lord in your
life-you must do as He says, go where He says go, and say what He says to
say. We know these things by reading and studying the Bible.
- Trusting that
God raised Jesus form the dead is very essential--for this is where our
salvation lies. If God had not raised Jesus from the dead, our faith
would be in vain. You may not understand it, but trust God and you
shall be saved. "The
Lord is not slack concerning His promise...but is longsuffering to us...not
willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."
(II Peter 3:9)
- One more important part of salvation is
repentance.
To repent means to have a change of mind and heart
of what you are doing and to turn from sin towards God. It is more
than just saying I am sorry. You have to forsake that which displeases
God and turn to that which pleases Him.
